Florilegia
Magnifying Glass Necklace
Rooted in the historical tradition of florilegia, flower books were once created to document the most exquisite cultivated plants. The Florilegia collection transforms the art of botanical record-keeping into sculptural heirlooms of precious metal and stone.
In their earliest form, florilegia were visual anthologies: meticulously illustrated volumes in which each bloom was catalogued for its beauty, often labeled only with its name. These were not scientific treatises, but curated galleries of the rare, the beloved, and the artistically extraordinary. Over time, the tradition evolved. Modern florilegia serve as living archives of botanical gardens, endangered species, or regional flora.
Folium’s Florilegia Collection carries this lineage forward into the realm of goldsmithing. Each jewel becomes an engraved field of repeating flowers, carved with the precision of historical botanical illustration and enlivened with sapphires, rubies, and precious metals. The motifs echo the classical decorative patterns found in ancient metalwork, yet they are reborn through Folium’s distinctly modern hand, sculptural, yet visibly alive.
Together, these jewels form a curated garden of perpetual bloom: a wearable archive honoring the tradition of preserving nature’s beauty through art, while inviting the wearer to carry a florilegium of their own, one flower at a time.

Frequently asked questions
Folium works exclusively with precious metals, specifically 18k yellow and white gold, as well as platinum, and carefully selected gemstones. Materials are chosen for their beauty, durability, and longevity, designed to age with grace over decades, not seasons.
Custom work is a pillar of Folium. We welcome personal symbols, engravings, and bespoke adaptations of our designs. Custom commissions are handled on a limited basis to ensure thoughtful collaboration and craftsmanship. Contact directly to discuss your vision.
Because each piece is made by hand, production times vary. In-stock designs typically ship within 2 weeks, and wholesale store orders in 4-6 weeks. Custom and engraved pieces require additional time, usually around 8-12 weeks. We believe patience is part of the value of the object.
Folium ships to the USA and Canada. Shipping times and duties vary by destination and are the responsibility of the recipient. All shipments are securely packaged and fully insured.
Folium jewelry is made to be worn, but we recommend removing pieces during heavy activity or chemical exposure. Over time, precious metals can develop a natural patina; many collectors consider this part of the piece’s story.
Due to the handcrafted and often personalized nature of our work, most pieces are final sale. If you have concerns about fit or details, we encourage reaching out before placing your order and we’re happy to guide you.
